I agree that this is not Luftwaffe. Another armband I have never seen. It appears to be preiod construction. I agree with gel65 that this is likely for some civil organization to be worn with civilian clothing and not on a uniform.

Re: Dark burgundy armband with Luftwaffe eagle?
It is from the Luftwaffe indeed. This is an armband as worn with the service dress worn by civilians employed as doormen and elevator operators.
The single strip of aluminum braid on the lower edge was worn by Pförtner [doormen].
(Hilfspförtner [assistant doormen] and Fahrstuhlführer (elevator operators) had no braid; Oberpförtner [senior doormen] had braid on the upper and lower edges.)
See here for the cap to go with it:

A new one for me as well.........

Re: Dark burgundy armband with Luftwaffe eagle?
So its Luftwaffe indeed. I suppose the blue wool background denotes this. I wonder why the Adler isn't of the typical Luftwaffe style? Possibly due to it being worn by civilians only.

Herr Lovecraft strikes again!!
Excellent. Thanks.
Ive never seen one like it.
Very interesting.
Had that tidbit of info not emerged, I'd have dismissed it as not real.

Re: Dark burgundy armband with Luftwaffe eagle?
A special armband for a Luftwaffe employed Doorman.....you have to hand it to those old Germans...they had Everything covered-and Then some!

Re: Dark burgundy armband with Luftwaffe eagle?
Interesting, never would have thought of that. Seems like everyone received an armband to wear.
Thanks for all the input.

Once again, the knowledge of the Forum membership comes through. We are fortunate to have members like HPL2008 here assisting us in our studies and knowledge.
