the ss did use the plain style party armband,but it HAS TO HAVE the RZM tag to make the SS connection,,,i have two,,one with the woven SS tag and one with the paper SS tag,,,

The standard kampfbinde with the RZM tags are known but there has never been any period evidence of their use by the SS on their uniforms. The existance of the embroidered and later paper RZM tags indicate these were produced over a span of time. All I have seen are unissued. There is a school of thought that these were issued for wear to SS auxillary by the local SS hauptamt for wear at various SS events.
Here is an example of the earlier type with cloth RZM tag.

Hi Bob, thanks, that is my take on the subject too. The construction of the armband shown is typical of an SS armband, bar the black stripes.

party armbands in wool are also identical in construction to the ss 'binde barring the stripes (and this black tag), I'm pretty sure...

The white disc on most wool SS armbands is slightly oval, not round like the basic kampfbinde.
