Hilfs-Krankentrager kampfbinde w/ odd thread

I bought this Hilfs-Krankentrager armband from a very reputable dealer (from the War Relics advised dealers list) & when my armband arrived I noticed it had abnormally long threads on the reverse that I've never seen before. I have 3 other embroidered armbands made in the same style & none of them have these long threads. Thoughts anyone?

What's strange is that the excess thread is stitched in place on the armband. I have never seen that before on any armband. Even repro's wouldn't be like that
