    Hello,

I recently picked up this pin of the "Kampfring der Deutsch-Oesterreicher" which is rather rare. I cannot tell if the flower on the pin is an Blue Cornflower or (probably) an edelweiss. From what I've read in this interesting thread, the "Kampfring d. D-Ost." is the predecessor to the "Hilfsbund." Thanks Wilhelm for creating this informative and revealing thread.

I have seen a few other pins like this online, but this is the only example I've seen that does not have a "1934" date on a third line of type.

    I found a bit more about "Kampfring d. Deutsch-Oesterreicher."

This is from Otto "Dutch" Spronk:

    Kampfring der Deutsch-Österreicher im Reich.

This organisation was erected by Hanns Albin Rauter, the Stabschef der Steierische Heimatschutz, on 5th of November 1933. The daily work/leadership was done by Erich Kadmer. From Austria already in 1933 many NSDAP-members, especially the prominent leaders, had fled to Germany as they were prosecuted by the Austrian gouvernment.
Of course many more Austrian NSDAP-members fled after the Putsch against Dollfuss in July 1934 to Germany. Although they kept illegally activ in Austria until the Anschluss with Germany in 1938.
A nice and rather rare pin, not often seen in wear.

Hanns Albin Rauter: Born in Klagenfurt, Austria.
Joined the Austrian National Socialist in 1929 and escaped into Germany in 1933 when NSDAP became illegal in Austria.
Later joining the SS and Gestapo and became the HSSuPF in the Netherlands during the war.

A similar badge being worn. Perhaps more like the one Wilhelm showed at the beginning of the thread?
