Can anyone identify these collar tabs?

I noticed these when you posted them previously and they are not Heer, KM or Luftwaffe IMO. Maybe you could post them in the SS or political forums, though they do not match any SS examples I have seen. Maybe Italian made, but I don't know. They look vaguely like SS senior officers rank tabs, but not a pattern I recognise.

Definitely not from the SS, SA or any other Nazi poliltical/paramilatry organization either, but I cannot make a positive identification.
If I absolutely had to make a guess, I would think along the lines of early hunting- or forestry-related insignia.

They could easily be Italian if they were taken in Italy.

Thanks for all the replies. Should I post these on the axis page of the board? My uncle landed in Naples in 11-1944 and went through northern Italy. At the end of the war he was on the border of Yugoslavia. I can't imagine were he would have found US navy insignia in northern Italy but I guess it's possible.
