Channel pants

Article about: I just received these and I have a question (dumb probably! LOL). At any rate, were these worn over the aircrews usual uniform pants or as pants by themselves? My guess would be by themselve

Channel pantsChannel pantsI just received these and I have a question (dumb probably! LOL). At any rate, were these worn over the aircrews usual uniform pants or as pants by themselves? My guess would be by themselves but I might be wrong. Could go either way I suppose. (These are reproduction pants made by a firm in India. Special order but a good price). Thanks for your input!

To the best of my knowledge the pilots were wearing them on top of their uniforms. That's why these flieger uniforms are always found in big sizes whilst field uniforms are usually small in size.
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377

I'm getting pro and con feedback on these pants. Would someone please post some photos of the "real deal" here so I can make a comparison?

    Thanks!
