ek2 ribbon placement

Article about: hi there, i've come across these photos that show the iron cross 2nd class ribbon thru the 3rd button hole but i always thought it went thru the 2nd button hole down, which way is right plea

    Another photo of the same guy, post a stint on the Eastern front. Ost medille ribbon now in the third button hole, EK mounted with four year long service and Anschluss medal. Also a wound badge in black.
