yes Wilhelm, that is my fear too, this is from John Telesmanich from Germanwarbooty , but RVM's is underway, probably on Friday I can publish them better pictures of it and decide if I keep it or return it, but like are from late war period, probably the soldier use rarely , hence its quality and for this very reason that I prefer with backing cloth "M" , being the first of the war , have lived much history that others, although they are in better conditions, so if more falsified the backing cloth is for the simple reason that the backing cloth is much easier to counterfeit than the galvanized cardboard , but one can easily distinguish a fake cloth against an original backing cloth , also fakes with cloth don't have the " M" marked ... thank you all
For me it is not clear yet of cloth came first and cardboard later.
I have seen early gorgets with cardboard. I have not found it
stated. So??
Maybe this is of interest for you:
It is a big size book, has German text, over 1,500 photographs and 704 pages!!
PS: John has a good knowledge. He did help me out with a planned book!
Yes the minty items do cause alarm at times, but we all know plenty of mint originals of all types or TR regalia does exist, perhaps it was unnissued and laying around as surplus at the end of the war when it was taken as a souvenier. I like items looking worn or used also
