Default Gebirgsjäger Edelweiss original or not ?

    Hello everybody.

I haven't been on line for quite a while, but now I am back.

I was hoping that the senior/experienced forum members could tell me if this Edelweiss badge is original to the WW2

    German period or not.

I am interested in buying it.

I am concerned about the central gold coloured structure, as it appears to be too tall and angled too steeply upright on the

    sides.

Also, the prongs on the reverse are not of the typical configuration, although I have seen a similar design on another

Edelweiss badge that is supposed to be original.

Thank you for your help in advance.

    I always appreciate it.

    Hello Danmark.

    Thank you for your reply.

You may be right in this particular case.
    This badge may be original.
Unfortunately, I have seen two other badges which have a straight stem and five single holes, being sold by different retailers and they look new and seem to be identical to each other.
I can only assume they are fake, so I was hoping some forum members may know of additional specific markers of originality.

Thank you again for your help.

    Regards,

    MrFrank
