Geprüftes Hufbeschlagpersonal Abzeichen
Good afternoon everybody, along with my Deutsches Fahrerabzeichen in Bronze which I posted earlier, I have also taken delivery of this farriers trade patch. It appears to be maker marked with G & H. If anybody knows what those maker initials stand for I would be grateful to know. I have also taken a picture of it alongside my Deutsches Fahrerabzeichen in Bronze for perspective.
A nice original and early construction. Fred Green is a resident authority on specialist insignia so hopefully he will chime in. These can be found with a "pip" indicating Lehrpersonal and with a short piece of Tresse as well which I believe means aspirant. This area of insignia constitutes a very curious collecting angle. Attached photo is a sample from my collection with a Hufbeschlagpersonal patch for comparison. Note they were issued in dark green, Feldgrau and (not shown) tropical varieties. NH

Thanks Neil. I only bought it on a whim from the same dealer that I got the horse drivers badge from as it seemed to fit the theme of the beginnings of my cavalry/mounted collection. Having seen some of the other badges out there, this is something I will start to pursue in tandem to my medal collecting.

That is a very nice original farrier's patch. They were used in the RH also. Here are some examples I have.
