German Naval Coat

Article about: Hey folks, picked this up locally and was hoping to find out more info on it. I am not overly familiar with uniforms so any help is appreciated. There was a small tag inside. The back of the

    I don't believe the shoulder boards to be Kriegsmarine.

    They aren't. Neither did the Kriegsmarine use tunics in this cut.

    I suspect that this tunic is probably a 'civilian' work coat for fishermen or the like. Someone has probably seen the German label inside, put two and two together, and come up with the wrong answer and added the breast eagle and shoulder boards.

    Don't forget the navy buttons too !! Maybe the captain of an Aux cruiser...some sort of merchant marine guy who wanted to do his part for the Fatherland ?

    Yes I tried to reference the buttons and I did find similar buttons on other Navy coats but nothing cut in this style

    I think the coat is a total put together. The eagle is enlisted grade and very poorly applied. The shoulder boards are not Kreigsmarine as has already been stated. Someone has dolled up a coat with anchor buttons(or added them also). The cut is also incorrect for a Kreigsmarine tunic.
