German (Paratrooper?) Insignia

Hi All, need help identifying my latest find. Got it for $0.79 at a "surplus" junkyard. Any ideas? All help is greatly appreciated!


Note to reader: also attached were pieces of gray/green thread. No markings are visible on front or back of insignia.

Do you have macro on your camera? if you do, turn it on , stand back, use your zoom, let it focus to avoid being too close as your flash may white it out

The closest badge in my reference is from Paraguay, but my answer here is vague, maybe it may spark up some more answers for you
