Post war? Do you know an approximate year? How can you tell postwar?
In regards to the patch, I did read that the Flemish army had the Rampant Lion. No chance this is one of theirs?

I need to sell and any information for the buyer would be very helpful.

No chance at all to be a Flemish lion!!
Flemish volounteer lion is black on a yellow field.
If in wear on a great coat...?? ...it would be much lower.
As stated it is a post war coat.

i believe it is a bavarian police over coat blue and white are bavarian state collors green for police modern post war.

It is not Bavarian.
You are right about the colours for Bavaria but the crest of arms is totaly different.
Arm crest's are an other hobby of mine.
Especialy Belgian nobility family arm crest's.
An arm crest must be "read", first you have got the division on thise one, then the central shield, then the animal on the central shield.
Then comes the colors on the divisions, the color of the central schield, and the color of the animal.
And all thise can be looked up in two books of different volumes called "Rietstap" and "Renesse".
I just spend an hour doing so but couldn't find it...!
