Hauptmann der Flieger tunic

Hello all,

I bought this out of an Estate of a former collector. The breast eagle is suspect and there is a small area on the interior where the lining near the right armpit was opened. I believe this was done so the eagle could be sewn in without penetrating through the liner. The award loops have frayed some over time, and there are loops for an award on the right under the breast pocket but these are black in color while the others are blue. With these exceptions I believe the tunic to be authentic but has been potentially restored by a previous collector. I would appreciate information on the tag located inside the interior pocket if you can help. Any thoughts, feedback, and opinions are welcome. Thank you.

I do not think the eagle is OK.
It is poorly hand stitched and to far down on the pocket.
It is obviously replaced as are the collar tabs.
I believe your first impression is correct. The poorly re-sewn sleeve lining is a dead give away.

I do not know if the eagle is okay, but the position is practically correct to orders.
The swastika even could be further down up to the button!
It is possible fhe first form was replaced by the second form:



Maybe he himself or for example his wife was responsible for this.

Oberserving old photographs tells you the eagle actually was worn in
many positiones: correct and not correct. But a uniform-regulation tells
how it should be!
