This type of embroidered eagle is something I have tended to stay away from and certainly in the recent period some very good fakes of this type have been produced. I would think this is probably a good example, but I could not say so with 100% certainty.

I also thought this type was an ugly bird so never bothered buying one or researching them.

    Whatever its just an opinion.

It's not one eagle! One pigeon.

Too cryptic for me and I could not see any early or pre war embroidered Heer eagles in the link to compare it against.

    Jerry,

I agree with the ugly factor! But I need an example of this type, have yet to pull the trigger on any..

    Lebus12,

Collectors guild is a great site "though overpriced" with great service...

Does anyone have a period photo of this type of eagle on a tunic?

    Heer Eagle for commentHello,

This is a very fine original early enlisted mans private purchase breast eagle! No doubt here! These were also done in Coastal artillery and Kriegsmarine colors. Here is an example of a Heer one with backing material.

The one at bottom right is a beauty and all look to be original.

Sorry if I don't find the others pretty, I only let good looking birds in my house.

    Hello Steve,

Embroidered eagles are a pretty subjective study!! Each collector has his own likes and dislikes. I see no problem with any of the eagles that you have posted.

    Fred

Ps Jerry, I am an equal opportunity employer! I let the ugly ones in too

I have room for them all.....Ugly or not....as long as they are real!

Ok this one "right side" has funky blue highlights, kinda course base, big ass eye..I get a bad vibe..?

    regards,
