Hi folks, Newly acquired Heer specialist patches - Richtkanonier and Nachrichtenmechaniker. 35 and 25 US dollars. Both are hard to find but I located them at the Allentown Forks of the Delaware show. Met up with WRF member Josh too. I also located an original WWII US M1 helmet sweat band for the liner - but I will post that at the US site. NH
Wish I would have had the chance to meet you down there, too... but the snow kept me away. I felt really bad for Josh... we had agreed to split the cost of a room.
What colour is the Nachrichtenmechaniker, as it looks like a tropical version which I have never seen before and if is then that was a real bargain IMHO.
Jerry, The Nachrichtenmechaniker patch is Feldgrau. To my knowledge, you may encounter these patches in Dark blue/green, Feldgrau and Tropische versions. The tropical versions are brown. I only have on tropical example - Schirrmeister. NH

Thanks Neil, I thought it was too good to be true and to be a tropical version, and as I posted I have not seen this patch in tropical, still a nice patch. Here are the 6 Heer trade patches you get in tropical versions, though all come in versions for the tunic and the coat and some have more than one version for the tunic in terms of variations in the shade of the backing patch and the edging trim, but this covers most of the variations, all from my collection.

Top to bottom - left to right: Sanitätsunterpersonal, Feurwerker, Waffenfeldwebel, Hufbeshlagerpersonal, Funkmeister and Schirrmeister.
Do you have a complete list of the specialist patches for Heer? I have seen three or four lists and each one has something missing. I want a list that is WWII era - 1939-1945. NH

Obviously Neil, I knew what they all were. I could not give you a lead to a more complete list than those you mention in the PM, Uniforms & traditions of the German army 1933-1945 Vol.2 is quite comprehensive, though does not have the V patch.
I also have nearly all the different colours for tropical signal blitz patches as well.
Jerry, Posted their ids for the edification of those reading who are not familiar with specialist patches. : ) I have some of the tropical Nachrichten patches too. I believe we have corresponded before this thread. Still looking for a comprehensive list of specialist patches if anyone else has one. NH

I knew that Neil and mean't to post that I knew that you knew that I knew them. Have you got the book I mentioned,as it is pretty good, but I'm not sure if there is a publication that has them all in it. If you find one, let me know about it.
Jerry, Ha! This is like a Honeymooners episode with Ralph and Norton. "I know, that you know, that I know..." : ) I do have the book you mentioned. The problem I have found with information on the specialist patches include missing items and inconsistencies. This is especially true of the Kriegsmarine. I am trying to get a definitive list of the specialist patches for the WWII era together. I've decided to create my own at this point based upon book and internet research. NH
