Helferin uniform

I suppose it is original, but I don't understand why there is a French insignia on the jacket.
This jacket was made in the south of France in Montpellier and we can see other jackets on French militaria sites. A lot?
Is it a French made never worn?
Since two days, I look pictures of Helferin, they don't wear such insignia.
