Kriegsmarine´s Cap talleys

I'm actually slightly surprised the Kriegsmarine kept putting the name of a sailor's ship on his cap band during the war, wasn't it the case that many, such as the British Royal Navy or the Soviet Navy, started issuing generic ones (e.g. "Royal Navy") to avoid a potential source of intelligence for the enemy?

Actually, the did. The named cap tallies were not made during the war.
