Hey guys thank you all for your comments. Obkrieger i'm really physced with this piece. I have a lot of uniforms but this one is one of my favorites.
Jerry thanks for your detailed thoughts. I will look it further to see if it's indeed an early issue thus the partial lining.

Chris...missed this thread initially, I have just bought one of these tunics, not in as good a condition as yours, it is a "moleskinrock" first issued in January 1928 (M27 or M29 designation) in the Reichsheer.....used as a lightweight summer tunic...well into WW2, most were modified by their owners, when the Reichswehr went to the Wehrmacht in 1935, the field grey collar being the first casualty, as on mine, being retrofitted with a dark, almost black collar, rear belt button supports were often removed (to give a more modern look for the fashion conscious soldat !) , if army, M36 breast eagles were added, and usually the owner upgraded when promotion was given, mine even has a leather reinforced dagger hanger slit ! This model of tunic was only partially lined, good to see yours has retained its field grey collar ! I will have to restore mine as it only has collar patches, mountain troop officers......will post as I restore.

Ladies and Gents, heres one I found on the net, unknown owner so I can not attribute (apologies if your out there !) ...Hopefully mine will look something like this (fingers crossed !) note, this tunic still retains the rear button belt supports (as on Imperial tunics). Looking at this tunic and Chris's, looks like mine has been shortened.
