Tom, you are not understanding here. The tunic is NOT ripped. The seams are left open like this for the shoulder board of this style to be inserted through. Done for ease of cleaning the tunic.

Here is an example with the split shoulder seams for removable boards, usually for the T bar type as Ade posted, though this has been modified to take slip on boards.

Glen..for the book, it is not Bundeswehr, although a white summer tunic, the so called "Casinojacke" was authorised for wear between 1963-73, it sported slip on shoulder boards, and no other insignia or awards, and all of its buttons were removable for cleaning purposes, held on by a split ring, they also had a cleaning instruction label, sewn on the inside of the left breast pocket area. They look at first glance to be from the TR period as they are very similiar in appearance...see here, this one I picked up recently.

Hey Steve, thanks for your reply, yes your tunic does look similar to the one i have seen. However, after having a close look at yours there are no loop holes above the right breast pocket for the eagle although my one has... any ideas?
