Nest was the same size only the fringe determined the type i.e Musiker(bandsmen- pipers/drummers etc)) no fringe--Speilmann(Musicians )3cm fringe and finally Speilmannszugfuhrer(Drum major) 5cm fringe.
Hope this helps.

Beautiful the attention to detail is like no other thanks for posting very cool
Is the leather hanger strap for your Lw drum hanger unit marked?
I have one of those and it is unit marked on the back of the strap. Not currently at home so can't go look to see what that marking is.
Mine was given to me by my Co Cdr back in 1962 when he found out that I collected WW 2 German items.

I have this example of a Luftwaffe drum hanger...almost by default you might say. I came up for sale in a load of kit here on the Island and a chap I know asked if I would get it in with what I was buying as he wanted the hanger and would square me up for it later. Later never came, so I still have it. It does not fit into my collection as such but is a really nice piece all the same. I am impressed with the way they even hammered over the attaching pins which hold the 2 parts together in an effort to make them blend into the wreath etc. I am sure it will go to a good home one day.
All the best from Jersey,
D.
Sarge - No unit marks on mine - Nice additive to your hanger.
Jersey 34- Very nice hanger, If I didn't have one I would be glad to work a deal on yours-
