SFTROOPER86,
Regulations dictated that the 1915 Turkish War Medal or in German 'Eiserner Halbmond' (Iron Cresent) was, when in formal wear, to be worn on the right chest centrally under the pocket. Informally a ribbon was to worn thro the 2nd buttonhole of the tunic. For Austrian/German awardees the Iron Cross 2nd class took presidence and the ribbon would be worn underneath the ribbon of the Iron cross. I have included a photo of the ribbon, as it generally never shown when discussing the medal, note, the bar to the medal (of which there were several) would not be worn with the ribbon. Contemporary photo's of the time show German recipients, particularly sailors wearing the medal on the left chest area in the fashion of an EK I, as on your tunic. Rudolf Hoss, commandant of Auschwitz, was a recpient of this award and proudly displayed the medal in its correct as per regulations (right side), on his grey service tunic.
The ribbon of the Turkish War Medal.
Super tunic, by the way !
