I wish you the best of luck on this!
I wish you the best of luck on this!
I got the tunic! The guy included a TON of other stuff with it that I will be sure to post. Tomorrow I will create my restoration thread and those of you who wish to may follow my progress.
Looks great, Mo! You made out like a bandit!
Going to be following it Mo, but I want to see
the 'TON' of other stuff too.........!
Regards,
Steve.
OK, so I may have exaggerated it a bit, but he did include a LOT of other stuff.
In addition to the waffenrock and the original insignia, he included a lot of extra tresse, way more than I need to restore it, an original belt and buckle, a 5-photo grouping of a RAD man, an 18-photo grouping of a KM man, 2 extra photos (coincidentally of a few RAD men and a KM portrait), and an original enlistedman's temporary leave pass.
You can see all of the photos on pages 227 to 229 of this thread:

Great stuff, im on the hunt for a belt like yours for my tunic.
Cheers.
Nuno
Very nice indeed. Is it just me or does it look like there have been a LW breast eagle on the "rock"?
Regards, Lars
I myself would look for a better breast eagle
Hi Lars, I think it's just the way it was photographed. The Luftwaffe never used this type of uniform, unless there is some goofy exception that I don't know about.
The breast eagle it came with actually had bits of thread stuck in it that matched the bits of thread still left on the waffenrock.
Hello,
The eagle that came with it is an officers bullion eagle. It would be a more correct restoration if you used a 1st or 2nd pattern flatwire eagle,IMO.
Have you ever done a restoration like this before?
Fred
