Panzer Collar Tab Totenkopf - Clutchback?
Hi All,
Was hoping to hear opinions on this Panzer skull. It was included with group of US items spanning pre-WWI through WWII.
It was essentially a throw in with the other items, so no loss if it's not authentic.
Some red flags for me is the clutchback. Also, looking at other known examples, I can't seem to find an authentic example with the same "high eyebrows".
Thanks in advance!

These are normally hollow-stamped...The above item appears cast with a very sloppy reverse...
cheers, Glenn

The back is terrible , either a bad repair or a cast fake as Glenn said .

It looks to be a US style pin back , is it all one metal , or is it a metal skull backfilled with lead solder ?

Maybe the veteran who got the skull converted it to a clutch back (possibly to wear?!?!).

If it is real, which I think it could go both ways, I would probably ask around $25 because of the condition as well as the addition of the clutch back device on the reverse. Personally, I think it stands a chance of being authentic, but others may have differing opinions.

Thanks, Warbuff. I'll wait to see what others say. I'm happy with them regardless, especially since I never knew they were included with the group until after the deal with the seller had already been made.
