Parade Tunic Coversion

Article about: Hello, I was curious about this tunic. It is a parade tunic conversion. Was this a common thing to do? Or could it be something that was done post war?

    Thanks for all the great replies! They were very helpful and fun to read. Exspeacialy about the looted uniforms, too bad he did'nt leave the tags!
    I've been eye-balling this jacket for awhile now, if I were to decide to purchase it, would you all consider $675 a reasonable deal for it?
