The pattern may be a modern copy of late war Leibermuster pattern.

US woodland cammo pants staged photo IMO timothy
One things for certain,He's right handed and left eye dominant.
my thoughts are the photo is genuine ,its not ww2 period hence the confusion i believe its post war and west german bepo ,leibermuster was used but in limited quantities ,also the m40 helmet you see looks very much like the m50 bereitschaftspolizeihelm
It doesn't look original or war time, looks like the bottom bar has been pasted on or the photo has been placed over, and the way the dude is standing looks really unnatural for a soldier. In my opinion its staged, and if they where testing camo or the factory thing you said, why do it with the pose and have the trousers in the bright light.
Fake.
Duplicate Bundesarchiv number poorly pasted onto an over-sharpened modern photograph of a scruffy amateur trying to look like a soldier.
Looks like a poor facebook pic from a re-enactor. No way that is a ww2 German.
In my opinion is a fake picture, looking at the way he aims his K98k the bloke in the picture hasn't either received any military training or he's been trained by Duffy Duck and are we going to see a few camo garments with the same pattern as his trousers' offered for sale soon? You betcha!!!!
It appears to a a kid wearing a M-42 helmet playing soldier.
