Hi Matilda
Looks nice and clean, Ben should be able to authenticate this one, buckles aren't really my area of collecting...

If I'll ever come across one in a similar condition, I will not bother Ben for advices, I'll take it and would proudly show it to you all; and if then Ben says it's not OK, then I guess the world of buckle collecting would get very savage nowadays...
What I'm trying to say is that you have there a very nice buckle; congrats Matilda.
Yes...nothing wrong with that buckle! Very nice example. These were first introduced in '36 so you are correct: a nice early example manufactured by Gustav Brehmer!!
Congrats!
Rob
I like it !! Very nice!!

Very nice RAD buckle by Gustav Brehmer, I still believe that the RAD buckle is one of the under rated buckles of the TR era
Ben
Indeed an early RAD and which was officially introduced in 1936, although it has been suggested that the buckle was first unveiled and worn at the 1935 Reichsparteitag (10th to 16th September).
A simple, effective and strong design by Egon Jantke and a buckle which I too, consider to be grossly under rated. There are minor variations to the obverse design by the maker and year!
If thought useful, I will post a series of RAD buckles for 1936, 1937, 1938 and 1939. Just let me know.
In the meantime, here is a 1936 Assmann
Regards,
David
Very cool David. Interesting to see the large tab attached. Great buckle - is that a unit marking on the tab as well?
My only tabbed RAD is an unissued '39 dated JFS
Cheers!
Rob
