Here is another FAD and which is often dismissed as DDR.
In my opinion, a very rare pre 1945 FAD !

David
you have such a nice collection ! Thanks for showing this rare buckle.
One question - where do you know from, who the maker is ?
This patch would fit perfectly to your buckle - see attachment / next post.
Cheers
Thomas
patch:
The buckle appears in a period Haunstein und Kirchhof catalogue(item number 1004) and whilst I hold a copy of this publication, I am unable to post images without the owners permission.
By the way, the buckle design is known with a brass box and nickle silver roundel.
Thomas, you have raised a very interesting point by showing an image of your super cloth item.
Perhaps we sometimes forget that the FAD as a volunteer work service was not the prerogative of the National Socialists. The left wing and religious groups to name but two, also organised their own FAD.
Although a subject that has been little researched, the Stahlhelmbund too had their own FAD and of course, specific uniform and insignia. I think that the cloth item that Thomas has so kindly shown, clearly supports this.
As far as buckles are concerned, there is an unsupported theory that the green painted or finished Stahlhelmbund buckles that we sometimes see, were worn by members of the Stahlhelmbund-FAD.

David
