    I did check some of my photographs:
    the 1936 buckles I have on photo all have the sharper edge. Some I see do NOT have the year,
    but only the manufacturers code (Gebr.Gloerfeld, Overhoff), but are according the 1936-standards
    (even gold versions);
    the 1937 versions do have the rounder edge.
    I see this feature also in Angolia, where a 1938 version is shown with the rounder edge also!!

    I guess that late versions then got the crimped backplate. But most often these are not marked
    as were the standards from 1936!
