Hello guys,
Is this an original German ww2 zweidornkoppel?
Some say post war, others say it is ww2...
The belt is stamped 186, the buckle is Assmann marked.
All help appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Sven

Dear Sven
Welcome to the forum.
What has already been said on the "other" forum is absolutely correct.
This form was produced and worn both pre and post 1945 and yes, Assmann continued to manufacture some of their previously catalogued items for many years after the second world war - complete with their company logo.
Other than the presence of strap markings which may provide a chronological clue, it is impossible to accurately date this form.
May I say though that your strap shows an interesting stamping and to be perfectly honest, I have never before seen this style/font/size on a pre 1945 issue item.

David
I must concur with David, and again I have never seen a stamp like that before. I wonder if it could be a unit/company stamp rather than a size stamp?
Ben
Hello,
Thanks for welcoming me David.
I understand it's very difficult to say if it's a wartime belt or not if there is no date printed.
The stamp is a little weird, as there is more space between the number 1 and 86.
Maybe 86 is the length and the number 1 mean something else..
I bought this belt together with another black one that is 1938 dated.
The seller says he found these two belts together with other ww2 equipment when he cleaned a farmers house in Waldsachsen, East Germany. They belonged to a ww2 police officer who died in 1945.
I hope it's true...
But as always, you buy the item, not the story...
Here some pics from the other belt who was found together with this one.
I think this stamped one is an original ww2 belt.
Regards,
Sven
The second belt is for sure WW2, is the buckle zinc?
Ben
BTW, welcome to the forum
Ben
Hello Ben, sorry for my late reply, but i just returned from holiday.
I think the buckle is zink.
It looks like the buckle (from the second belt) has a little bit a blue shine on it, is that a bad sign? Or is that normal after all those years?
You can see it best at the first pic I posted from the second belt.
Most buckles looks more grey than this one.
Regards,
Sven
Can anyone help me with this one please?
Thank you.
Regards,
Sven
Sorry Sven, I am at a loss with the markings, the belt is period at least

What do you mean with "I at at a loss with the markings" Ben?
Can someone else tell me more about originality of the buckle?
Thanks.

Sven
