I believe Mac and Giz have pretty much said it all. I read that these cost 1.50
    Reichmarks back in the day.

If the buffer pad is a recent add on and can be removed - and if the knife
fits into the scabbard properly without it - I would do so. The earlier
knives without a ricasso may have not even had one - my own
early HJ by 'Paul Selheimer' doesn't.........
The leather buffer comes of easy, but then you can see two gaps between the blade and the hilt. Is that how it should look on an early HJ without buffer ?

I have had a closer look at the leather hanger... Though it's too short, it looks original to me. I remember seeing short ones, but never took notice in them beeing original or not. The rivets that holds it in place on the scabbard looks original to me too. Here are some additional pics, what do you think ?

    Thanks Ralph.

Does anyone know if there is some kind of "table of rarity", like on the K98 ?

By the way... I didn't only pick up the HJ this weekend, it came with a couple of friends

I just love those fireman's dress bayo's, a shame we don't see them very often in this forum.

    Both are made by Eickhorn...
