imo are all heidelberg knife a slight bow to the sword.
I observe that already in some heidelberg hj knifes.
in ralf s. Book the daggers of npea u. hj on page 437 it is also observed.

just checked my photos & you are correct, your Heidelberg hj knife from Birger belonged to me some years ago.

Hi Max,

its for sure not on all Heidelberg Knives, lots of them have the normal shape and have no bend.
I tend to sharpening, and if no signs of sharpening on the blade, then its just the craftsman that had a bad day...

I made the observations so far only on the transitional knifes.
I have already observed at 5 hjs knifes.
to the 2 knifes from my collection was nothing sharpening.

Are they beer bottles, or milk bottles? I've seen both descriptions before.

There's nothing wrong or abnormal about a sharpened HJ knife, unless an excessive amount of metal has been removed, and worst of all unevenly.

Otherwise the knife should be razor sharp as this is very good steel!

I remember reading that Germany got the steel, or iron ore, for their better (weapons) steel from Sweden. Anyone have any insight on this facet of Third Reich edged weapons?
