The blade looks OK to me also, but just not in the best condition. And it seems to look to me also that it could be a ‘rust’ blued scabbard. But because of the seeming difference in its appearance with the blade, there is no guarantee that it came with the knife. And with only the one image at a distance, who knows just how it’s really finished??
The Germans did clear anodize some items like the aluminum mounted Luftwaffe swords and daggers. But unpainted steel items like scabbards were either blued or browned. (With the now widely accepted term “anodizing” creeping into many books as the result of incorrect guesses by the authors - who compounded their errors with other mistranslations.) There was also a shift from ‘rust’ bluing on early items to the much faster ‘hot dip’ process. With some of the ‘hot dip’ examples also taking on a reddish hue, most likely due to fluctuations in the temperature of the bluing chemicals as seen with the image below. FP
Thanks alot guys ! I turned down the offer and it went to someone else. I think i will rather pay an ekstra 100 $ and get a better knife, with matcing scabbard and no doubt about the diamond.
Best regards, Henrik
