Hitler Jugend damaged blade

I am looking at picking up this knife today and it looks all good to me. The one thing I don't like is the knicked blade... is there a way to tell if the knick is of the time or some kid in the backyard? Also, does it look good to everyone. It is the correct 5.5 inches. Thanks

Knife & scabbard look ok to me going by these pix, chipped blade you can never tell when that happened .

Maker is Schuttelhofer of Solingen-Wald, a fairly common maker. The blade shape is good apart from the chip. But these knifes were abused by kids, such damage is common, but the price should reflect that. Some collectors only want the "out of the box" mint varieties. That's fine, but the worn ones have a character of their own, they have lived, or at least been thrown at a tree a few times. The mint ones were probably owned by the bookish spectacle wearing kids who avoided boisterous activity!
