Not to dissent, but why is the plastic of the grip panel looking rougher around the rivet by the crossguard than the one by the pommel? I would be inclined to think that this knife has been very expertly worked on at some time in it's life.

I do not know , but this seems rivet longer, and there is a little space between the rivet and the plate

This is a later period produced hj knife & you can find small flaws in the workmanship just like most TR produced stuff, take a look at some later made RZM SA daggers with gaps in the grip to crossguard fit, poorly inserted grip eagles ect, ect, there is nothing wrong with the hj posted.
