    I guys,
I would like to show you my acquisition .
    A RZM M7/6 H&F Lauterjung with motto.
The knife is in pretty good condition, although used . The sheath is sadly stripped from its original paint and a bit salty, leather is good .
Handle slabs and diamond is flawless !
I believe this is what you refer to as a transitional 2nd pattern !?? Dated 1936-38 !??
The guard is somewhat bend, but show no signs of breakage :-/
Does anyone know if the guard and handle piece is drop forged or cast steel ??
If cast I do not dare to straighten the guard ;-0

I would very much appreciate any input on my knife .
    Mfg
    Marc

    Hi Marc,

Thats not a bad looking Transitional from the 1936 - 1938 period

the hilt/fingerguard is made from Steel but i would not risk trying to bend it back !

if it was a Zinc based hilt the fingerguard would have been broken clean off

    Congrats on your latest find

    Hi Marc,

at least the knife has been produced before the end of 1936 when the Motto was abandoned.
I could well be issued later and the rzm stamp could be applied on old stock, making this a trans/dual marked knife.
The knife looks very well, and the scabbard...well we take them as they come

    Regards,
    Ger

Thanks a lot Mac and Ger .
I guess you would leave the guard as it is too, Ger !?

    Hi Marc,

i would take Mac's advice at heart, its old steel and breaking it is plausibel.
I would leave it this way to.
