There is I think some good news, and I'm sorry to have to say some bad news. The good news is that the frog looks to be a good example of a German combat (98K) frog. With the bad news being that it IMO really belongs on another type of bayonet. And the scabbard with the ovoid(?) frog stud is from a foreign (possibly South American?) contract bayonet. FP

Yea, I didnt notice that. Thanx FP. My grandfather had a bunch of argentinen mausers so Im guessing that scabbard must be for one of the weyersberg kirschbaum &co solingen bayonets that he has... So should the scabbard also be nickel plated? Would the frog look different from a combat frog? Kinda cool the frog is a combat type, I would really love to pick up a K98 combat bayonet soon....
