Certainly the pommel should be doubble proofed, is correct WaA519 for 42cvl or WKC in 1942. b.r.Andy
What Andy said , at least by the "w" block 1942 cvl/WKC bayonets are seen with wood grips. Single pommel marked Waffenamts a common feature with later war period bayonets, I think that I would be remiss to not add that Waffenamts are not (commonly) seen with the Behörden (aka 'Commercial') bayonets. And that there are completely postwar fake bayonets with fake Waffenamts. Good enough fakes to fool some non-specialist TR dealers, fortunately at least for now they are not that common and probably should not fool anyone who has developed past the new beginner stage. Best Regards, Fred

My bayonet arrived today. It has bakelite grips. Should it have wood grips?

Frogprince mentioned that bayonets with the markings mine have are seen with wood grips so I took that to mean that mine should have wood grips instead of bakelite. Maybe I misinterpreted what he meant.

Looks like a very nice condition bayonet with frog.

As you can see it is dated 1942 and has the double waffenampt. There will probably be one on the tip of the scabbard as well.

The maker CVL is WKC (Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie AG, Solingen). Can't tell you who the maker of the frog is however, I'm sure some of the bayo guys will be around to tell you more about the detail.

A useful link (the forum search function is great! )

Yes there is a stamp on the tip of the scabbard that matches the pommel

Thanks! I haven't taken one yet but I plan to tomorrow if I get off the water in time to catch some natural lighting. I've been meaning to get a photo for everyone but have been away from home last few days
