Well, I guess its one way for a Vet to preserve or even show off his war trophies. I guess I have always thought of any "modern modification" to historical collectibles as wrong. It definitely looks pretty neat, but for some reason it just doesnt feel right.

I bet Ade's correct. I think there's a strong liklihood that the piece was chromed by the Allied GI, or perhaps the offspring on the vet. Interesting piece.
Just look at the cars of that age and all that chromeeeeeeee
It sho is a perty thang though!
