Hello guys, today a friend of mine gaved me this bayonet 98K.
Little bit rusty at the top of the grip, but still a nice piece.

The numbers doesn't match. Sadly. :-(

Can someone give some opinion on the scabbard's color, because I'm a
little bit suspicious that it is repainted at some time.
What is the normal color of these scabbards because there's only 1 layer of thin black paint on it?

Still a nice piece for display and looking for a nice frog to complete the bayonet.

Okay, I tooked a better look to the scabbard and it looks like the black paint is 2nd layer.
Underneeth is a green layer of paint 1st layer on the metal.

Yep....the 1st layer is the correct color-it's been repainted for some reason or other. If you're Real careful, you may be able to strip the top layer off again. Now where's the frog to go with it? William

Paint is sometimes used to cover rust. Use acetone to remove these newer coatings.

You may have to repaint/re-blue it after all the paint is off, as you never know
what is underneath until you strip it. It may have been sanded
    down to bare metal.........
