    Default Bayonet - Repro ?

Sorry about the Cell phone photos. I was looking at this bayonet and it is in excellent condition but I am curious about the numbers on the frog lug. I don't recall seeing this before. They match the numbers on the bayonet but those numbers are double stamped. This is priced at $90 and I should be able to get it for less. Thank for any information.

I've never seen the frog stud numbered other than on post war refurbished bayonets.
That said the 'original' numbering and makers name etc looks a bit 'odd' too, doesn't look original to be honest, though I could be wrong? In fact, though it's difficult to tell from the pics, the whole bayonet looks a bit strange too, grips don't seem to fit right and the blade looks wrong? The scabbard seems suspect too, the frog stud doesn't look right either? Maybe just the dodgy mobile phone pics but it's not one I'd have.

Definitely a reproduction. Here is one to compare it to, same sloppy screw holes, slender cross guard and tear drop shaped frog stud.

These are being made (reproduced) in China. This is one of a couple of different versions. My thoughts only ....
