Dress K/98 bayonet

Hi Guys,

I came across this dress bayonet the other day, at a fair price I think

It is the carbine short version with leather frog.
Maker is E and F Hörster. It has clearly been used/worn but I think condition is pretty good overall, apart from the 2-3 small chips at the edge

Any comment is much apriciated, since this is my first dress bayonet

Nice short KS98 by well known maker in a combat frog so called calvary model they are often found in s84/98 frogs but not proper nice piece. timothy

Judging by wear marks, it seems this frog has been on this knife always . Is it the wrong type for the knife ??

The type of frog intended for the dress bayonet was in a shiny patent leather and did not have the retaining strap.

Hello this is the type of frog you need for KS98 as Ade stated notice how it fits the scabbard tight and is of patented leather this one has a piece of green felt on the back to keep uniform wear down often found with metal backing also. timothy

there still existing a lot of typs of Extra-bayonet frog.

black or brown colour... buff leather, black sleek leather, patent leather, no rivtes, two rivets, four rivets or five rivets. In the ideal case there is a lable of the owner on the frog.
