Hello i got this from the flea market today for a cheap price
is it good? i think the scabbard is not from this bayo

Update*** it has the same markings with the bayonet same number but its repainted and its hard to see i will try to remove the over paint and then post pictures
i looked up on google about the can scabbard and it says that it started to produce scabbards for fnj bayonets at 1944 can you verify it?

Always nice when they are matching! I would definitely remove the paint,. A little acetone with a rag and Q-tip should do the trick. Better to have only a little blueing than a lot of paint, IMO. FNJ did use can marked scabbards for a short while and I think yours should fall into that number range, Andy would know for sure.

    Nice find,

Much better without the paint and a good price too! Wipe it down with a good gun oil or some CLP, maybe even rub it down with some 0000 steel wool to remove the loose top layer of rust, re-oil and your good to go.
