Re: German Bayonet found
It is a 'Demag' crank-handle bayonet from WWI. Not in terrific shape,
but rather rare, and worth a lot more than 50 Pounds, IMO !
Reproductions are worth about 40 Pounds.........

Re: German Bayonet found
Thank you for such a rapid response.
As I have no intention of keeping it, where would be the best place to put it on the market.
I am sure somebody else would appreciate it more than I ever would.
Cheers

If you'd like, there is an 'items for sale' section within the Forum.........!

Re: German Bayonet found
Hello,
for £50 keep it.
What you have there is no a bayonet stricto sensu, it's a german WWI combat knife known as the DEMAG, that could be also used as a bayonet. They're nice and desirable (and faked on a large scale)...
A scottish soldier might have seized this one from a landser and brought back it home...keep it...
Thank

Re: German Bayonet found
Hi JPhillip, cheers for the info.
I really think its a nice thing, but with having 2 young sons who are into everything (and expensive) I would rather get rid and make a collector happy and maybe....just maybe pay for a tank for fuel. Which with the way fuel is rising in the present climate is very doubtful!!
Thanks again for your reply.
