K98 Bayonet

Article about: Need help on this bayonet. I believe it is a K98 dated 1940, The Frog is dated ,41 and the scabbard is dated '42. Serial numbers do not match on the bayonet and Scabbard. So I think it is a

    Same opinion about the S84/98 piece, it could be postwar refurbishment, the new serial on pommel speak for it.
    The forrest found could be german S71/84 bayonet, but with not propper scabbard,when the rivets on frog are Alu it ccould be the scabbard is from a WW2 S84/98 piece.b.r.Andy

    Bayonet itself is in good shape as Andy and Fred pointed out serial no on top pommel is usually some other country after the war use on the side it is often Portguese contract which is not the case here. Frog seems original appears to have had a replacement rivet added to the back as one may have came out but as pointed out I don't care for SS stamps either I have had too many of these turn out post war marks to drive the price up for a ordinary frog. timothy
