re: K98 Bayonet
Hi Roger, yes it is German and is for the Mauser K98k.
"COF" is the makers code for Carl Eickhorn, Solingen.
There should be a code number both on the bayonet and the scabbard. These should match. But often they got separated, so miss matched numbers are found. If buying a bayonet, always try and get one with matched numbers.
The leather frog does not look to be German.
Cheers, Ade.

re: K98 Bayonet
It is my pleasure to help!
If you look closely at the end of the scabbard you will find a tiny eagle waffenampt inspection mark. Inspection marks can also be found near the release button on the grip. You may also find a date code on the spine of the blade near the grip.
Cheers, Ade.
