K98 Bayonet more info please

you have a non-matching and disjointed S84 / 98. The number on top of the grip head was taken after 1945. Here is a use after 1945 somewhere abroad.

The scabbard is from E & F Hörster (asw) from 1942. The bayonet itself comes from Genossenschafts-Maschinenhaus der Büchsenmacher, Ferlach (Cooperative Powerhouse of Gunsmiths, Ferlach).

So this bayonet was not use in ww2? this stamp is on edge side of the blade...

Was this used in WW2? Quite likely, it is made by the Austrian maker Ferlach, earlier known as OMC and finally under code "bym". Their last year of production of bayonets was 1944, which this one is marked. Interestingly too is in 1944 Ferlach changed their unique numbering system to the more conventional batch system used by other makers. And we see that in this example "961 A" being very early in that first batch under the revised system.
As SW points out the scabbard is a mismatch one made by Horster. The 913 hilt number is post war usage.

OMC is wrong designation is only a caligrafic M for Maschinenhaus in reality. The 913 is mostly done postwar like mentioned. b.r.Andy
