    Hello,

yes this frog is ok. Unused condition. Please don´t damage it by putting it on a bayonet....

Maker 0/1001/0038 is Lederfabrik Fr. Vogel Mattighofen.

This maker also made the "M42" frog and tropical web frogs.

    Regards

Given it is RB numbered it can only date from the period 1943 to 1945.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Cheers, Ade.
First, my thanks to Sleepwalker for the input on "0/1001/0038 is Lederfabrik Fr. Vogel Mattighofen" - as the thin type of leather they used made me suspect another well known manufacturer as the maker using the same type of material. But the above statement by Ade is also my sense of the dates from quite a few observations of what is in general circulation. Which is not to say that I have not also seen some very "iffy" markings such as hand stamped (one character at a time) 1945 dates and other assorted spurious (IMO) markings. With just a "43" what comes immediately to mind for the RB # frogs - but also noting that there are exceptions like this RB # 0/1250/0011 which has a complete 1944 date. And the maker's EZGJ marking instead of a still earlier letter code. Best Regards, Fred

Here is good resource where you can get some info about your R.B.Nr : SMC - WWII German - K98 Pouch - Manufacturers RBNr/RFNr
Also there is a proof about Sleepwalker words.

EZGJ means Erzeugungsjahr = year of producing...

I'll have to check my notes, but I believe the EZGJ marking is for a Czech maker, and is also seen on pouches, slings, and holsters. With the link posted an interesting one, although the 1942 example was not pictured, and the link not helpful (to me at least) in pursuing the search for pictures or other data. Best Regards, Fred
