K98 Fold out bayonet?
I have been asked if I can find out if the K98 ever had a folding bayonet fitted. The bloke selling it has the cut off end, of what he believes is, a K98 with a bayonet that locks into position, and can be unlocked and folded flat against the gun.The bayonet is double edged. I will get some photos of it on thursday when I next see him. Has anyone got any ideas?

Re: K98 Fold out bayonet?
No, this was never done.
I will bet this turns out to be a Czech VZ 52 rifle.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: K98 Fold out bayonet?
Cheers Ade. I had never heard, read, or seen anything about a K98 folding bayonet. The bloke trying to sell it was trying to convince me that it was one and for £45 I was tempted. In his defence he is intrested in any info on it.

As a footnote to my last post, I will get some photos uploaded of it on thursday.

Re: K98 Fold out bayonet?
Ade, I've just checked out Wikipedia's article on the vz. 52 rifle, you are right it is a folding bayonet off one. I shall tell the seller, unless he has been able to flog it to someone else as "a rare folding K98 bayonet" Thanks for your help.
