Article about: I recently bought a bayonet as it looked decent in the pic and the price was alright for a worn non-matching number bayonet. I asked, if it was a matching number bayonet and was told it was

    Definitely been used, but still in great shape.

    There is rumour that a lot of unissued 'asw' bayonets were found
    in a warehouse or factory at the end of the war and taken
    by Allied soldiers as souvenirs.........

    Yes, must have been in a frog and have been carried a lot, since the scabbard is worn to the metal. No dents at all though.
    What is nice, is that the blade seems like it was never used for anything, as there are only some sliding marks from the bayonet being drawn from the scabbard.
